FAQ:

Who will I be performing my solo in front of?

You will be performing your solo in front of your teacher (Miss Ashley) and the rest of the dancers in your program. Each week, there will be video recordings taking place which will be shared on our website and social media as well.

If I sign up for this program, does it mean I am guaranteed a solo for the next competitive season?

The timeline of our next competitive season is not guaranteed so this program is treated separately from our regular competitive classes. That being said, this program is going to give you a very strong foundation and definitely recommended if you want to perform a solo on stage someday.

How do I know if I am Level 1 or Level 2?

Miss Ashley will place you based on your age and ability. If you have questions, please contact us.

Do I have to wear a mask?

Yes, everyone in this program is required to wear a mask and social distance including your teacher.

What should I wear?

Please wear dance attire that makes you feel confident. No costumes, but your favourite leggings/shorts and a tank or crop are perfect. Bare feet please and hair neatly pulled back into a low bun. Please arrive at each training as if you are arriving for a photoshoot. Look your best, feel your best, perform your best!

Do I need jazz shoes?

No, bare feet please.

What should I bring?

A labeled water bottle and a couple of healthy snacks.

How many dancers will be in my class?

5-9.

Why does this program cost more than other programs at your studio?

This program includes a lot more than your typical dance class. Please fill out the application to see the full pricing breakdown and value.

Still Not sure if this program is right for you?

  • Your attitude is more important to me than your skillset. If you plan to come prepared to work hard, show respect to your teacher and classmates, the Shining Solo Program is for you.

  • I can teach new skills a lot easier than fixing a negative attitude

  • If you can dream it, you can do it!

The Shining Solo Program is for you if…

  • You are a passionate dancer

  • You are worried that you’ve lost some of your flexibility and dance skills over the past year but you’re ready and willing to work hard to get it back

  • You dream of performing on stage again someday

  • The thought of performing a solo gives you excited little butterflies in your tummy

  • Being at home away from friends has taken a toll on your mental health and you’re ready to train in person with actual real live people again!

The Shining Solo Program is NOT for you if…

  • You don’t plan on putting your trust in me to train you to become the best you can be

  • You don’t like pushing yourself

  • You struggle to listen

  • You don’t plan on working hard or taking it seriously

  • You plan to talk over the teacher or your classmates

  • You do not want to perform by yourself in front of your fellow dancers

Recommendations:

The more you put into your training, the more you will get out of it.

You will be training with me 2 hours per week, but I recommend training at home at least an additional 2-3 times per week to see real progress.

I will be sending out our weekly lesson plan so you will have the material to work on at home too.
