THE SYLLABUS

International Dance Technique (IDT)

International Dance Technique is a studio syllabus designed to develop plyometric agility, strength, fitness, flexibility and strong jazz technique in dancers of all ages and abilities.

YOUR TEACHER

 

MISS

Michaela Greenfield

Michaela has had a huge passion for dance since the age of 3. Growing up, she has completed several RAD Ballet Exams, receiving distinction and competing at regional and national dance competitions over the last 10 years. She has trained extensively in Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Contemporary and Lyrical. She has completed the ADAPT Assistant Teacher Training Certification and Year 1 of ADAPT Teacher Training School. With a huge love and drive for dance, she finished her last competitive season this year for DancEnergy Studios and looks forward to teaching the next generation!

 

TYPES OF

PRE-COMPETITIVE CLASSES

TECHNIQUE

  • Focus driven

  • Follows IDT Syllabus

  • No performance in Year-End Showcase

  • No costume

  • Prepares dancers for future in competitive dance if they desire

  • Scheduled directly before the corresponding performance class on the same night at the studio

PERFORMANCE

  • Confidence building

  • Learns dance routine

  • Performance in Year-End Showcase (on stage)

  • Dancer must purchase costume for the performance at the end of the year (included in tuition fees)

  • Scheduled directly after the corresponding performance class on the same night at the studio

Dancers are encouraged to sign up for both the technique class and the performance class as they compliment each other perfectly. They are scheduled back to back to make it easy on parents too!

DRESS CODE

For Pre-Competitive Classes

Clothing: Tight-fitting tank/crop top/sports bra and tight-fitting shorts or leggings. No loose/bagging clothing, please. Any colour is acceptable.

Shoes: Bare feet

Hair: Slicked low bun or braids. No ponytails please.

Other: No jewelry. If you have plantar warts, please have them covered with tape that will not fall off in class. If you have head lice or cold-like symptoms, please stay home!

SEASON 9

Pre-Competitive Program Offerings

MINI (Ages 6-8)

Pre-Competitive Mini Technique Class - Wednesday 5:00-5:45pm

Pre-Competitive Mini Performance Jazz Class - Wednesday 5:45-6:15pm

Details:
- Includes Pre-Competitive Mini Technique Class AND Pre-Competitive Mini Performance Jazz Class
- $90+HST per month
- Initial Fee of $125+HST for costume to be worn at our Year-End Showcase in June

JUNIOR (Ages 9-12)

Pre-Competitive Junior Technique Class - Wednesday 6:15-7:00pm

Pre-Competitive Junior Performance Jazz Class - Wednesday 7:00-7:30pm

- Includes Pre-Competitive Junior Technique Class AND Pre-Competitive Junior Performance Jazz Class
- $90+HST per month
- Initial Fee of $125+HST for costume to be worn at our Year-End Showcase in June
